Successful Visit of the G.A.T.E. Partnership to Albania
The working team of Greece Albania Trans-sectoral Energy "G.A.T.E." Project successfully completed its visit to Albania on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. The visit was attended by representatives from the partnership and specifically from the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES) as well as the Region of Epirus and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania (MIE) which is the Albanian Beneficiary.
It is noted that the Project G.A.T.E. is co-funded by the European Union and national resources of the countries participating in the "Interreg IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program" Greece - Albania 2014 - 2020.
The aim of the visit was to demonstrate the completed pilot in Albania and the other actions of the GATE Project. As far as the pilot is concerned, during the summer the energy upgrade works of the Primary School "Së Bashku" in Gjirokastër were completed. The school, as was the original goal, was ready and fully functional by the beginning of the school year. The interventions that were implemented included the thermal insulation of the external walls, the replacement of window frames and glazing with new of low thermal transmittance, the installation luminaries of LED technology and the installation of a heat pump for the production of DHW and heating of the spaces along with corresponding radiators (panels).
At the same time, the building's electrical network as well as its plumbing installations were upgraded. The roof was also repaired and waterproofed. The building was practically completely renovated and now offers ideal living conditions to students and the teaching staff who use it. In the near future, the evaluation of the impact of the interventions on the energy consumption of the building will follow.
