Successful Implementation of the 2nd Project Meeting in Gjirokastra

The meeting held in Gjirokastra with the participation of representatives of all Beneficiaries, namely the Center for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES), the Region of Epirus and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania, was successfully completed.

In particular, during the first day CRES executives arrived in Ioannina, where a meeting was held with the project team of the Region of Epirus. Afterwards, all the Greek partners travelled to Gjirokastra. At noon, a first meeting between the Greek and Albanian Beneficiaries took place in Gjirokastra concerning the progress of the G.A.T.E. project.

In the next morning the Greek partners went to the City Hall of Gjirokaster. The meeting was attended not only by members of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania, but also by representatives of the municipality of Gjirokastra, who are also involved in the pilot project of the Albanian school complex. It should also be noted that both the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor actively participated in the meeting and requested further clarifications and information.

During the meeting, issues related to the implementation of the project were discussed and the work done so far was presented. The three most important issues discussed were the following:
  • Project management issues and the progress of the expenditure incurred and MIS use.
  • Developments in the bidding process for the two pilot projects / demonstration actions in Gjirokastra and Ioannina.
  • Progress of publicity / clustering activities among participants from the eligible regions of Greece and Albania.
It is noted that CRES presented the development of the web-based platform www.ourgate.eu and the content and objectives of the next actions. All Beneficiaries discussed and defined the planning of future work / deliverables and the objectives to be achieved by the next meeting in autumn 2019 in Ioannina.
